Dry eye is a chronic medical condition that develops when the eye's tear film does not lubricate and protect the eye's outer surface.
Herbert J. Siegel, a member of the Board of Trustees of Research to Prevent Blindness from 2000 to 2011, has passed away. Mr. Siegel is the former Chair and President of Chris-Craft Industries, Inc. and its subsidiaries, BHC Communications, Inc. and United Television, Inc. He was known on Wall Street as a savvy investor who developed a multi-billion dollar media and entertainment company.
Mr. Siegel graduated from Lehigh University with a major in Journalism in 1950 and served in the United States Army Reserves from 1951-54 before focusing on his business career.
Mr. Siegel’s numerous charitable interests have included many Board positions for organizations that promote education, science and medicine, including Research to Prevent Blindness.
