Dry eye is a chronic medical condition that develops when the eye's tear film does not lubricate and protect the eye's outer surface.
Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) is saddened by the news of former Board of Trustee’s member Richard (Dick) Eugene Baker’s passing earlier this spring. Mr. Baker is remembered by RPB leadership as a dedicated and generous Trustee, who lent his time and talent to the cause of saving sight.
“I remember him as being a man short on words, but when he spoke, everyone listened,” said Diane Swift, Chairman of RPB. “Dick was a well-respected, serious and dedicated Trustee. RPB is in a better place thanks to his efforts.”
Mr. Baker was a member of RPB’s Board of Trustees for 23 years—serving as its Treasurer for nearly all of that time. He stepped down from the Board in December 2015. Mr. Baker also had a long career at MCA/Universal from 1965 to 1995, serving as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 52 years, Johanna, who resides in Naples, Florida.
Mr. Baker’s obituary can be found here.
