RPB supported the development of this web-based test, which has been validated against conventional testing and allows parents to screen their children for amblyopia. The LazyeyeTest.org test, which assesses visual acuity, will be further refined, but the current version provides an early screening option for the most common cause of visual impairment in children.
The online test involves a series of six graphically rich, plain-language screens describing the test and how to interpret the findings. Typically, it takes less than 15 minutes to complete.
This test does not, however, replace a visit to an eye care specialist, which remains the best way to determine if a person has amblyopia.
